[How To] Green Screen Removal Like A Pro in After Effects Tutorial

1.Use the Keylight plug-in

Use the Keylight plug-in that comes with After Effects to accurately remove the green screen background.

2.Select the eyedropper tool to sample the background color

Use the eyedropper to select the green screen color and extract the key tone.

3.Adjust edge details and softening

Optimize the edges by adjusting the "Screen Matte" parameters, such as clipping black and white values, softening edges, etc.

4.Add a post-production background or image layer

Add the background image or video you want after removing the green screen.

WEEK 7

How to Dynamic Link between Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects

What is Dynamic Link?
Dynamic Link is an Adobe feature that allows you to seamlessly collaborate between Premiere Pro and After Effects without exporting files.

How to Use It:
Right-click the material in Premiere → Select Replace with After Effects Composition

After Effects automatically opens and creates a new composition. After modifying the content, Premiere automatically updates synchronously

Save Projects
Save the AE project file (.aep), and Premiere will continue to read the link.

WEEK 8
INDEPENDENT LEARNING WEEK

PROJECT 2
DESCRIPTION:
Students will synthesis the knowledge gained in Task 1 for application in Task 2.
Students are to demonstrate ability to explore and generate an abstract channel bumper in any creative approach with consideration of good audio tempo and visually compelling video.

PROCESS
Because this is a project that can be completed collaboratively, after further discussion, I will start production with Yang Jiayi.
Since we needed to complete a brand promotional video, we thought about the question of "what brand to use" and finally decided to choose the clothing brand "Adidas" which we are all very familiar with.

The first step is to investigate the brand to understand the brand style and determine the direction of our video style.

After research, we found that if we need to make a logo animation that matches the Adidas brand style, we can mainly use lines + graphic dynamics to make it. The colors can be black and white, which best represent the minimalist style. In terms of dynamic design, we can make it more lively to reflect the street feel.

In order to better express the desired effect, we found some reference videos with similar styles on the website:

After we had a rough idea, we started to draw sketches and storyboards and tried to make them in AE.

After determining the general design and production direction, we searched for usable materials on the Internet and exported the white background images into transparent background images using PS tools.

This project requires us to use the production method we learned before.

Furthermore, based on the feedback given to us by Mr. Fauzi, we made some changes. The overall production is based on the storyboard, with some minor changes in the details.

FEEDBACK
WEEK 6
Fully reflect what you have learned in practice.

It could benefit from more dynamic transitions or depth effects. Adding a bit more anticipation or follow-through would make it feel more alive.

WEEK 7
The motion is clean and the timing is precise. Audio was used effectively to support the animation tempo. For further enhancement, try adding more detailed animation to secondary elements or subtle effects for added depth.

REFLECTION
Experiences
I started the logo animation process by building a mood board and style guide to ensure the overall design language was consistent. I tried multiple concept directions and tested different animation paths before finally settling on the presentation. The entire process involved multiple sketches, digitization, sound synchronization, and motion fine-tuning.

Observations
I taken note that indeed little timing alterations can essentially influence the cadence and see of the movement. Precisely adjusting the sound impact beat with the symbol development incredibly improves the visual affect. I too found that basic and centered plans can way better pass on the center brand message. As well numerous impacts can effortlessly debilitate the visual center.

Findings
Through this project, I realized that consistency between motion design and brand identity is critical. A good logo animation does not have to be complex, but what matters is the clarity, rhythm, and emotional tone it conveys. I also found that the earlier the sound effects are incorporated into the creative process, the more controllable the animation structure is.
