REFLECTION

Experiences

During the Major Project, I was mainly responsible for the initial theme discussion and the subsequent character design. Both of these links made me deeply experience the importance of teamwork and creative development.

In the initial theme discussion stage, we need to find a direction that is both creative and allows team members to play to their strengths. This process is full of discussions, screening and adjustments. Sometimes there are differences of opinion, but in the end we reached a consensus and laid the foundation for subsequent designs. When it comes to the character design stage, I need to concretize the concepts discussed to ensure that the characters are both consistent with the story setting and visually attractive. This process made me think more deeply about the importance of character creation, and also allowed me to make continuous adjustments during the design process to better express the character's personality.

Observations

In this project, I observed an interesting phenomenon: the initial ideas often change a lot during the practice. The character style we envisioned at the beginning may be adjusted during the actual drawing due to team feedback or technical problems. This made me get it that plan doesn’t happen all at once; it takes time and exertion to keep making strides and refining it.

I moreover found that talking with the group is truly imperative for being inventive. Great communication around topics or character plan can make the venture way better. In the event that individuals don‘t communicate well, it can cause perplexity and harmed the ultimate result.

Findings

Through this project, I discovered several key gains.

  1. Flexibility is very important in the design process. Whether it is the choice of theme or character design, being able to adjust the direction according to needs is more conducive to the smooth progress of the project than sticking to one idea.
  2. Recording and organizing work progress is a very necessary habit. Clear file management and periodic reflection not only help me review my design ideas, but also make it easier for team members to understand my work.
  3. I also realized that technology and creativity must be balanced.Character design should have creative ideas, but it also needs to think about how it will be made. This includes making sure it can be animated well and that the art style fits together.
This process helped me understand better how information design and animation work together, and it also made me think more about what I might create in the future.
